Recreation
A central part of our campaign is to make sure we continue to renovate and reimagine our recreation spaces:
Keep Oxford Park safe and enjoyable for everyone
We have made great strides as a city over the past few years to keep Oxford Park safe and secure, and we need to continue that work so everyone can enjoy a nice summer walk and soccer match.
Continue with Devon Pool
Even with the work that’s been done in recent years, Devon Pool is still outdated and City Council has yet to generate a new plan for the open space left. There is a need for a toddler pool for younger kids who have outgrown the infant pool but are too young to swim in the big pool.
Listen to the concerns of our citizens regarding the new community center
The people should have a voice in all government projects. We are always better off when we bring community diversity to the table. In a big public project like this, our citizens should be aware of how it is planned, constructed, and what they are paying for it.
Increase extracurricular programs after school and during summer and winter break
Upper Arlington schools are some of the best in the state, but when kids are out of the classroom, working parents need to know that they are safe and engaged. I will develop city-wide programs that extend the current recreation programs.
Honor the legacy of Pleasant Litchford
UA as a community owes a debt of gratitude to the work done by Pleasant Litchford to settle the land. When we think of the city’s founders, he never comes to mind because he was a freedman. All our city has done to thank him was build the high school on top of his private cemetery. It is long past time to right this wrong and properly acknowledge and honor his legacy through the efforts of our historical society.
Upper Arlington has always had a strong sense of tradition. We know our roots and honor them proudly. Let’s continue the tremendous work we’ve done in building our city for the next generation.
