Andrej Rotter is a neuroscientist, educator, and longtime Democratic activist running for the Ohio Democratic Party Central Committee in District 25. A resident of Upper Arlington in Franklin County, Andrej has been actively involved in Democratic politics since 1990, supporting candidates and causes at the local, state, and national levels.

Professionally, Andrej is Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He has spent his career there advancing medical science and mentoring future researchers. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from University College London and a PhD in neurobiology, with postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health. His academic career also includes a faculty appointment at the University of California, Irvine.

Andrej has been deeply engaged in grassroots organizing since 1990. He has knocked on doors, supported labor through the AAUP/AFT, participated in local advocacy groups, and ran for local office. In 2023, he proudly contributed to Ohio’s successful fight to defend majority rule and to guarantee reproductive freedom in the state constitution.

He believes the Democratic Party is strongest when it is transparent, democratic, and firmly rooted in the grassroots.

Science taught him to value evidence, transparency, and accountability, and he believes these principles should guide our party as much as our public policy.
